Film Review 3: Black (2005)
Black is an Indian movie directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The movie portrays the story of a girl very much like Helen Keller, blind and deaf. But despite her physical disorders, Michelle McNally, lead by her teacher Mr. Sahai and his enthusiasm, succeeds to understand sign languages and read braille. Then she moves onto an even bigger goal, to study in college and graduate. The film showed me what the words ‘Hope’ and ‘Dream’ really means. Towards the end of the movie, Michelle recalls that ‘The only word Mr. Sahai did not teach me was ‘Impossible’.

Oh my gosh. This movie was such a beautiful inspiring film. This film had beautiful emotionally-charged cinematography with beautiful colors of grey, blue, green, black. The story is also gripping as the girl, Michelle effectively portrays being trapped in an internal prison in which language, a vital connector within herself as well as to the outside world, is missing. This movie is told with so much emotion of showing how both the characters suffer emotionally and their emotionally gripping dialogues which grasps the viewers attention to really appreciate and admire their courage and value of caring for one. Overall, not only did the movie have beautiful cinematography with brilliant colors, but it also teached me valuable lessons such as value of life, success, and love. It is very emotional.
